The Women’s Research and Documentation Centre (WORDOC) of the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, holds the 2025 annual Girls’ Summit on the 4th of August, 2025, for the girls between the ages of 10 and 18 in Lady Bank Anthony Hall, Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan.
The event was graced by the Director of the Institute, Professor Sola Olorunyomi, who welcomed the girls once again to the annual summit and admonished them not to look down on themselves. Barrister Adenike Ibitara gave a lecture on “Rights of the Girl Child in the 21st Century” while the second lecture on “Girls in Tech” was co-presented by Ebunoluwa Awokunle and Boluwatife Sanusi. Dr Sharon Omotoso (WORDOC Coordinator) gave the closing remarks. The programme featured an art exhibition, a panel discussion on youth empowerment, art and crafts, and a live Q&A session.
