Professor Omolade Adunbi, whose lecture topic, “They just want us to die a slow death”: Energy practices, climate crisis and the social death of the environment in Nigeria” focused on the exploration and refining of crude oil in the Niger Delta communities of Nigeria.

In another public lecture in the Institute of African Studies, Energy Practices, Climate Change and the Environment are the issues engaged by Professor Omolade Adunbi, whose lecture topic, “They just want us to die a slow death”: Energy practices, climate crisis and the social death of the environment in Nigeria” focused on the exploration and refining of crude oil in the Niger Delta communities of Nigeria.

The lecture highlighted his field experiences in Rivers State as an Anthropologist. It attracted intervention and questions about international politics and national priorities, sustainable solutions to oil spillage in the Niger Delta, ethical issues in ethnographic fieldwork, gender issues and health issues for a researcher in such spaces.
