Professor Niyi Osundare opens “Art, Spirit & Power in Yoruba Woodcarving” Exhibition (June 19, 2025)

The exhibited objects; Yoruba Oro Bullroarers, Odo Sango Ritual Objects, Yoruba Ritual Drums, Yoruba House-Posts (Opo Mulero), and Yoruba Ifa Divination Trays (Opon Ifa) are parts of the collection of the museum, curated by Professor O. I. Pogosson (Honorary Curator, CAMAA) and Akeem Ashiyanbi.

It was another historic moment with Professor Niyi Osundare, Winner of the Commonwealth Poetry Prize and ANA Poetry Prize, during the opening ceremony of another spiritual reawakening exhibition in the Institute of African Studies’ Cornelius Adepegba Museum of African Arts (CAMAA) Salon. During his opening speech, Professor Niyi Osundare referenced the back-to-back insightful exhibitions on Numismatics and “Tree Trunks” Creative Centrifugal.

The exhibited objects; Yoruba Oro Bullroarers, Odo Sango Ritual Objects, Yoruba Ritual Drums, Yoruba House-Posts (Opo Mulero), and Yoruba Ifa Divination Trays (Opon Ifa) are parts of the collection of the museum, curated by Professor O. I. Pogosson (Honorary Curator, CAMAA) and Akeem Ashiyanbi. The collection attracted scholars and cultural enthusiasts from within and outside the University community. The opening ceremony was moderated by the President of the Institute’s African Studies Students’ Association (ASSA), Awoyemi Michael.
