Global Black History Month in IAS Continues with “Orisa and the Environment” Panel (February 24, 2025)

In continuation of the Global Black History Month, the eleventh day, February 24, 2025, was at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan where a panel session held on “Orisa and the Environment”. The panelists of the session included Ms Ademola Aremu, Princess Jumoke Owoola (Casablanca), Alagba Oloyede Adelani John Esq. Anis. Yemetu Ibadan, Ojogbon Olusola Adebayo Akinsowon, Prince Tunde Odunlade and Jumoke Olowookere.
The panel session featured extensive and insightful conversations on the relationship of Yoruba Orisa and the environment they lived in and are also deified. The scholars and students also contributed on the management of waste in urban spaces, the production of goods with excessive waste and how these wastes can be converted into sustainable household and aesthetic materials. The session was moderated by Michael Awoyemi.
